WWDC and iPhone 3G — Joe Cox, Apple Australia
One of our favourite speakers, Systems Engineer Joe Cox will bring us up to date with the outcome of Apple's June WorldWide Developers' Conference which brought news of iPhone 3G for Australia, the iPhone Software Development Kit 2.0., Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, and the MobileMe service to replace .Mac.

Normal AUSOM Activities will be held as usual throughout the day, including the Special Interest Groups' presentations.
Also at the meeting:

  • A wide range of AUSOM merchandise.
  • Raffle ticket sales.
  • Membership renewals and queries.
  • Training DVDs and CDs available for hire, and Library books for loan.
  • Commercial stallholders have Macintosh-related products and consumables for sale at discounted prices.
  • Hot snacks and cold drinks are available at lunch time.

Transferring data from old storage devices onto DVD.

Can those old documents really be retrieved? Will your answer outlive the next new thing in storage methods? Stewart Day will give us the good oil on transferring your old files to modern DVD storage.

Using Windows on the Intel Mac

Dick Johnson will show us how easy it is to use Windows progams on your Intel Mac. If you have just one or two such programs that you need to use, you can do so with the barest minimum of knowledge of the Windows system.

Apple Store Sydney Grand Opening - An insight by Perry Liebe, who camped over night to be amongst the first to enter.

iTunes Store - TV shows have arrived in the Australian iTunes Store and we'll highlight various features to be found in the iTunes Store.

iPhone - With just days to go before the launch of the iPhone, we'll discuss why people may want one.

Adobe Photoshop Elements - time permitting, we'll present Terry White's demonstration on Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.
